Orange by dashboard-day Orange by dashboard-day
Yeah, there is really no meaning to this picture at all. I just saw my little brother with an orange, and was like "Picture time!"

Enjoy all the vitamin C!

This is a very nice shot!! I love the clarity. I also really like the pic being black and white except the orange. The orange stands out so nicely. Nice shot for just seeing your brother holding an orange and just feeling like taking a pic. Very COOL!!! Love the vitamin C!!

:D Thanks. I took this picture when I hadn't had my camera for very long... but it still turned out pretty good. I went through a stage where i desaturated every colour, but one in particular. In this case, orange.

How did I make the hand black and white, and the orange coloured? Well, I cheated. Haha, I used photoshop. The original picture was fully coloured, and I just selected the orange and desaturated everything else. It's pretty easy to do. I've done it in quite a few pictures. Thanks for the comment :). Now I'm off to take a look at your gallery.

O col'r, thou art citrine in nature!
Thy richness toned within thy hand,
Though 'bandon hand itself thou did'st.

Beautiful, beautiful shot of an orange half. Now, I want some orange juice, which we do not have any of, which makes me sad.

Totally awesome in all its citrusy goodness.

Great shot man !

I really love the ultra-simple composition, and the violent contrast between the desaturated hand and the higly saturated orange !

Nice idea, and very well done !

:D Thanks. Yeah, I just wanted to have fun. Before I even took the picture, I knew exactly what I wanted, and it's exactly what I got. That's something I was never able to do with my old camera. Actually, it's not even my old camera. I know more now than I ever did. I'm taking my photography more seriously. I just want to have more of an understanding, you know? Getting the new camera just gave me a boost. Aaaannnyyways, I'm glad you liked it, man. You always have great and useful things to say about my work :D.

Yes, I understand what you mean.

I'm really wondering if it would not be a good thing for you to try film photography. You can find some great little rangefinders or slr on eBay for almost nothing and it's a really good school to fully understand what you really do with your camera.

Yeah, it's very true. It's my next step... To buy a film SLR camera. Right now though, I couldn't be able to afford one. I want to understand all sides of photography. I also want to learn how to use a darkroom.

you can find some very good second hand ones for almost nothing :D The prices of film gear is so low, it's silly...

Everyday I see amazingly good cameras for peanuts on eBay. :D

Maybe an old pentax. They're very cheap, hi-quality built, and the m42 mount system let you use the HUGE stock of almost free M42 lenses. If you take a look on eBay you'll understand what I mean :D

This one is in UK, but you can find similar bids in US : [link]
And a great example of what lenses you can find : [link]

There are a lot of great deals to make :D

And if you prefer a little rangefinder : [link]

Man, i see what you mean. pretty cheap stuff. I'll have to look into buying one. I'm pretty darn happy with my OLympus right now, but that doesn't mean I can't expand into film photography.

Ahhhhh, that's so good. I was just talking to my friend about your crazy B&W with colour. (he said 'uh huh' and started moving towards the door, but that's not the point!)

This is what I call eye candy and a very complex piece of art when
it comes to the technical aspects of image composition.

The colors a very nice in consistancy and in color harmony.

The image tells me in a simple and clear way a message, this is without overdoing it
which is very nice!

Keep up the good work!

More C-vitamines :)

Yeah, I did everything manually. I just fooled around until I got the look I wanted. I ended up with about 40 shots because I got this one. Yeah, if you look through my gallery, a lot of my shots aren't exactly complex. Well, not all of them, lol. I try my best to bring up ideas through simple everyday objects.

Anyways, I'm glad you liked this shot :). Thank you very much for the comment.
